Thank you for signing up for our DiskSync backup services. As part of this service you will be able to backup your important data to a secure, off-site facility. Your data will be compressed and encrypted as it is backed up and can even be encrypted on the Vault in the remote facility.
Please note, that while it is your responsibility to configure the service, schedule backups and do restores, our staff will be available to assist as needed.
If you ordered this service during the purchase of your server, the Agent software has been installed on your server and configured with your credentials. You will now need to download the Agent Console software to configure and schedule your backups.
If you have ordered this service after your server was already provisioned, you will need to install the Agent software on your server, then download the Agent Console software to configure and schedule your backups.

Important things to remember:
* It is the customer’s responsibility to configure and schedule backups. Example settings may be provided for your convenience, but no backups are scheduled to occur by default.
* If you need to change the hostname of your server, your DiskSync backups prior to the hostname change will no longer be accessible. To enable DiskSync after a hostname change, you must re-register your computer with the Vault by setting up your Tasks and Schedules again. The data stored under the old hostname will remain on the system without expiring, possibly consuming some of your subcribed storage allocation. If you have stored a large volume of data prior to the hostname change, it would be advisable to create a ticket in Orbit to have a backup engineer purge this old data to prevent overage fees due to storage utilization on backups that can no longer be accessed.
* The customer is responsible for any overages that may occur on the system.
* After the initial seed backup – which is generally compressed by 50% - subsequent incremental backups are generally only 1% - 2% (compressed) of the size of the entire save set. Because of this, daily backups will generally not affect your overall bandwidth usage.
* If you choose to encrypt you data on the Vault, please record the encryption key in a safe location. If you lose this key you will lose access to your backups. We are NOT able to reset your key or provide you with access to your data if you lose the key.
* If you have multiple tasks backing up the same data, be sure to keep in mind that each task will compress and backup the files and directories specified, independent of other tasks. Therefore if you have two tasks backing up a file or directory it will take twice as much room on the Vault.
